1. Nmap

I think everyone has heard of this one, recently evolved into the 4.x series.

Nmap (Network Mapper) is a free open source utility for network exploration

or security auditing. It was designed to rapidly scan large networks, although

it works fine against single hosts. Nmap uses raw IP packets in novel ways to

determine what hosts are available on the network, what services (application

name and version) those hosts are offering, what operating systems (and OS

versions) they are running, what type of packet filters/firewalls are in use,

and dozens of other characteristics. Nmap runs on most types of computers and

both console and graphical versions are available. Nmap is free and open source.

Can be used by beginners (-sT) or by pros alike (packet_trace). A very

versatile tool, once you fully understand the results.

DEFINITION OF ETHICAL HACKING :

An ethical hacker is a computer and network expert who attacks a security system on behalf of its owners, seeking vulnerabilities that a malicious hacker could exploit.To test a security system,   ethical hackers use the same methods as their less principled counterparts, but report problems instead of taking advantage of them. Ethical hacking is also known as penetration testing, intrusion testing and red teaming. An ethical hacker is sometimes called a white hat.  (good guy)  black hat(bad guy).

DOS attacks,DDOS and REFLECTIVE DDOS attack

DOS: Denial of service.
A type of attack, in which the attacker uses total bandwidth of the target website, and crashes it.As there are legitimate users who already are using the bandwidth, the job of attacker becomes pretty much easy.
In this attack, the total bandwidth is used, therefore legitimate users are also not allowed to access it.
In DOS attacks there is only one attacker who tries to crash the target system using his ‘single’ system.
